Windsurfing: Carsington Water Wind Direction: S/SW Wind Stength: 20-28 knts Surf / Sea State: flat/choppy Air Temperature: 13 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: overcast/rain Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Went up to Carsington as it looked a bit mad out West with 40 knots
forecast for the coast and Bala and I knew others would be out at
Carsington.
Decent wind blowin when I arrived but off shore at the launch spot grrr...
so went for the 6.4m and the flow to help get back in. Once round the
islands and onto the main lake it blowin a good F5-6 but gusty and I knew
instantly that I couldn't hold onto the 6.4 for too long so went bak in to
change down.
Back out on the 5.0m I was nicley powered up but the lulls were annoying
but had some great long reaches and some maxed out runs too.
Great fun but really annoying trying to get back in around the islands in a
wind shadow which, involved swimming in for many peops ;-)
Wind got even stronger and in the end was having trouble keeping the board
in the water so went in for the wave board. This was really difficult to
get out and back in with and not fun in the lulls but manageable in the
gusts.
Eventually a mad squall came over changing the wind direction with really
heavy rain. When it stoppped the wind died with it so packed up and headed
home.
